Hi, I'm Giovanni Valdivia. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Grief Counseling Specialist who works with teens, adults, and couples who have ongoing challenges with depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. My goal is to help you stop dwelling on negative thoughts and start encouraging you to see healing and transformation are possible.
My Journey To Becoming A Therapist
I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I'm human. I've been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.
I was drawn to counseling through the desire to help people who are struggling. My life has come with many challenges and lessons learned through experience. I want to be able to help you find your path through your trials in a way that draws out your true self. Doing it alone can be difficult but reaching out to someone can make it feel more possible.
My life experiences are what led me to become the therapist I am today.
In our Sessions We Are Focused On You
Sessions will provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. In feeling safe and comfortable, you'll be able to figure things out about yourself and explore the direction you want to take your life.
It's important to me to provide a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and ensure that the process is collaborative. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
My Professional Background
I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Sam Houston State University. Afterwards, I also received my Masters of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from Sam Houston State University. I hold a license as an LPC for the state of Texas. I am trained in Level 2 Gottman Method, Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma, and Grief and Loss. In addition, I am a National Certified Counselor.
